Bealtaine Festival

‘Discovering the Creative You’ events at Croí na Gaillimhe for the Bealtaine Festival 2012. Yes indeed, it is once again time to start planning for the Bealtaine Festival in May and Loyola has a fantastic array of events lined up!

The Festival will run country-wide for the month of May and here at Croí na Gaillimhe, our special events will commence on Tuesday 8th May at 2pm with our first ever ‘Origami Workshop’. Origami is the traditional Japanese art of paper making and the workshop will be given by Yoshima Hayakawa of the Wa Café. This is a rare chance to spend the afternoon at Croí na Gaillimhe with Yoshima - don’t miss this amazing and unusual opportunity to learn about to craft your own sculptures from paper!!

Next up is renowned Galway Poet and published Writer Kevin Higgins. Kevin is also the poetry critic of the Galway Advertiser and co-organiser of the Over the Edge ‘Literary Event’. He is joining us for a ‘Literary Event’ on Wednesday 9th May from 2:30pm-3:00pm. This poetry reading is not an event to be missed.

Our Bealtaine Festival will finish on Wednesday 9th May with traditional Irish music sessions with Croí na Gaillimhe in house musicians. There will be plenty of ‘ceol agus craic’ as we celebrate the festival.

The Bealtaine Festival and organisation are coordinated  by Age & Opportunity, which is the Irish national organisation working to promote greater participation by older people in society. For more information please visit, www.ageandopportunity.ie
