It has been a busy week here at Croí na Gaillimhe! It all began on Wednesday with our St. Patrick's Day Celebration. The St. Patrick's Celebration is one of our biggest annual events so quite a lot of planning had gone into organising this years celebration and it turned out to be our biggest yet with 51 participants!!
Our Wednesday dinner took place at 1pm and there was a wonderful Irish theme to the meal so a sincere 'Thanks' to the staff and volunteers at Cope Community Catering of all of their hard work. Afterwards the celebration kicked off at 2pm with music provided by our fantastic in house musicians.
The whole centre has been transformed into a sea of green by Loyola for the celebration and all participants were invited to wear a little green for the day. There were also plenty of badges and bows for people to wear if they wanted to add a little extra glitz!
The afternoon passed in a whirl and music and dancing, with many of the old favourites being requested. Several participants did us proud of performing a 'party piece' and there's no doubt that they are a highly talented group!!
Also, this week our Social Club for Men extended an invitation to the local Active Retirement Group at St. Mary's and invited the group to attend a special viewing of the DVD of "A Wing and a Prayer - The Musical : The Story of Knock". The musical tells the exciting story of how Monsignor James Horan came to realise his dream of building an airport in his beloved Mayo.
After lots of excitment this week we are looking forward to the St. Patrick's Weekend and would like to take this opportunity to wish everyone a Happy St. Patrick's Day (or should I say 'Lá Fhéile Pádraig Sona Duit') and of course to wish all of the Mum's a very Happy Mother's Day!!
ps. We are of course closed on Monday 19th which is a Bank Holiday and will re-open on Tuesday 20th March.
