ROAD SAFETY TALK FROM ROAD SAFETY AUTHORITY
Wednesday 9 September
The lunch and social club were delighted to welcome Catherine Flaherty, Road Safety Promotions Officer with the Road Safety Authority this afternoon. Catherine gave a very valuable presentation on road safety high lightening the need for all of us to exercise care and caution at all times whether we are a driver, passenger, cyclist or pedestrian. Pointing out that the highest rate of pedestrian fatalities were amongst the over 65 age group Catherine strongly recommended that we were high-visibility jackets at all times as poor weather conditions or even the glare of the sun make it difficult to be seen, she urged members to all ensure safety belts are worn back and front no matter how short the travel time. Catherine kindly gave members a high visibility jacket and reflective key ring to bring home with them.
