YOUNG HEARTS - FUN Intergenerational Programme at Croí na Gaillimhe
This week with 19 transition years and 9 adults there was a great buzz in Croi na Gaillimhe for our Young Hearts session this week. The dark and dreary weather did not dampen the spirits and enthusiasm of the participants. The next 5 sessions will be facilitated by Veronika and Sinead, who will prepare the items for sale at the craft fair in November.
Today’s session was all about experimenting with materials and getting to know one another. Veronicka used some very creative ice-breakers to allow participants to bond.
They enjoyed the name and food game. The theme for the workshops is ‘love is….’ And themes and ideas were developed through discussion and small group activities.
Following a well-deserved cuppa, the tables were divided into 3, which allowed the participants to try 3 different crafts. One group made mono prints, another made small ceramic decorations, another group made pom-poms using forks.
The activities were engaging yet allowed for plenty of chat and banter. They couldn’t believe that the session was over, as the morning flew. Some of the adults were fascinated by the TYs experience of work and have expressed an interest in hearing more next time.
